Tupac “2Pac” Shakur‘s storied career will be honored this year with the late rapper’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Snoop Dogg will lead the induction next month, with unconfirmed rumors that he will be joined by mentor Dr. Dre in a tribute concert at the ceremony.
News of Snoop Dogg’s involvement first surfaced Sunday in a TMZ report that stated the rapper and potentially Dr. Dre, who was enshrined in the Rock Hall with N.W.A in 2016, would participate in a three-song musical tribute to Shakur that included the hit single “California Love.” However, according to Rolling Stone, the final lineup for the all-star Shakur tribute has not been cemented.
Tupac is part of the class of 2017 which also includes Pearl Jam, Yes, Journey, the Electric Light Orchestra and Joan Baez. The ceremony takes place on April 7 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Cente. Neil Young will induct Pearl Jam, Jackson Browne will induct Joan Baez, and Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush will induct Yes.
